lyrics

Winter comes, but once a year
we walk through snow, out to the lake
ice fishermen, drop lines of hope
into the freezing water

Richard Penn was an upright soul
who preached to the congregation
he knew what men and women know
kindness can save a nation

come and watch the silver snow
falling in the evening
and in the morning a blue sky
and the cold air sparkles

Winter Winter comes and goes
like the life that makes us
all the children of the earth
dance when Spring trees blossom

all along the silver shore
children build sand castles
but castles fall into the sea
like all great states and nations

Richard Penn stood erect
standing at the lectern
his kind eyes could see the end
of the life that lets us

but tell me child what do you know
can you see the mountains
and the valley white with snow
and the city shining

and Richard Penn was an upright soul
who preached to the congregation
he knew what men and women know
kindness can save a nation 12/14
