about

in the folk disaster song tradition. this could describe any number of real events.

lyrics

We had a week of Summer rain;
shiny lights and pavement.
The neon signs were red and green.
AUTO PARTS and TONY'S BAR.
And in the night I heard the rain
hammering on windows.
And when I finale got to sleep
I dreamed of water rising.

Above the town there was a lake
called "The Peaceful Widow",
that by the hand of man was shaped
like a flying sparrow.
The water fell by day and night
as the lake was rising.
And when a crack broke through the dam
our God never saw it.

The water fell by day and night
as the lake was rising.
And when a crack broke through the dam
our God never saw it.

And in the night I heard the rain
hammering on windows.
And when I finale got to sleep
I dreamed of water rising.

We had a week of Summer rain;
shiny lights and pavement.
The neon signs were red and green.
AUTO PARTS and TONY'S BAR.
And in the night we heard a sound
like an army rolling.
and at the crack of dawn I cried
for not a house was standing.
