lyrics

butterflies in the trees
sunlight comes through the leaves
to caresses the dirty face
of a little boy on the beach

making a castle of sand
a yellow shovel and pale
he carries water from the sea
he carries water from the sea

light from a street lamp shines
on the sidewalk below
making an island of light
making an island in the night

and all i can remember
we could have stayed there forever
till mama called come in here
till mama called come in here

Long Island Sound is a calm body of water
some days you could see Long Island
on the blue line of the horizon
and the sound of tiny waves on the shore line

and the cold wind of winter
blue in the face of a boy as he walked there
he was wandering if he could paint that
he was wandering if he could paint that
