The singer-songwriter / painter moved to New York for a few months in 1967 where he met Bernard Stollman of ESP-Disk, who offered him a contract. Between 1968 and 1986, Ed lived, mostly, in New Haven; doing occasional shows with his band, and later doing solo shows there. Hypnotic repetition building irrepressible momentum is Steve's forte,I think... Here he adds some field hollers for good measure and the results are terrific! Some great over-tracking adds depth of field and resonance and Steve lets things teeter on a knife edge from time to time as he expands his acoustic and electric guitar extemporisations with a raga-like feel and with judicious use of the effects pedal, but the overall effect is mesmerising.
