Sing it Again
03:38
|

Richard Rosen plays an old Guitar
He likes singing and he likes the kids
down in the village he sings for them
They dance around and say "Richard, sing it again".
Richard Rosen plays an old Guitar
He likes singing and he likes little brats
down in the village he sings for them
They fool around and say "Richard, sing it again".
Richrad's sleeping on an old park bench
he likes sleeping and he loves the kids
he wasn't happy when they woke him up
just to ask him to sing it agaIn
"sing it again Richard"
Richard Rosen plays an old Guitar
He likes singing and he likes the kids
down in the village he sings for them
They dance around and say "Richard, sing it again".

a Manhattan Moon
03:40
|
|||
The setting sun was the color of steel.
.....The hudson was the color of blood
When Jack came down to the new york shore
New Jersy light was enough.
bring me a moon.
a Manhattan moon
we'll share a kiss
by the shore
The lights came on as boats passed by.
.... The hudson was the color of stars.
When I went down to the new york shore
New Jursy light was enough
bring me a moon.
a Manhattan moon
we'll share a kiss
by the shore

Friends and Lovers
03:53
|
|||
Even as the days go by
and old memories fade and die
I look back through time and space
I see somebody, I see a place
Caus old lovers never die
They may fade or they may shine
Proud mountains can never grow
but great rivers will always, will always flow
Boats on rivers and cars on roads
take me where I want to go
But some lovers I have known
have carried me from home to home
So when your quiet, and by yourself
think about someone else
One who has loved you on your way
A pal, for a few days
and
Even as the days go by
and old memories fade and die
I look back through time and space
I see somebody, I see a place
Caus old lovers never die
They may fade or they may shine
Proud mountains can never grow
but great rivers will always, will always flow

i love you babe
no one can take that away
the waves on the sea , the stars in the sky
will testify
and all of my love
i give it freely
what ever you do or say, go or stay
i love you babe

White snow falling in white air
covers the town in a blanket of silence.
Richard crosses the empty street.
The snow is almost up to his knees.
Little Richard (not the singer),
carries his school books down the street
..... to the old red school.
His friend says, "hay wait up Richard, I'm coming too".
A winding river is a joyous sound.
The light of a life in the eyes of a child is profound.
And noise from the playground is the hat
on the head of the god who makes snow come down
White snow falling in white air
covers the town in a blanket of silence.
Richard crosses the empty street.
The snow is almost up to his knees.
We had a little snow this year.
And Christmas is coming pretty soon.
There building a snow man in the school yard,
and Richard will join the choir soon.

if Fish can Fly
04:38
|
|||
If fish can fly my love
there is nothing we can't do
we can cry my love
and we can laugh too
look into my eyes my love
and kiss my lips again
we'll find a endless river
and we'll sail it to the end
If fish can fly my love
i'll look for you in Spring
and when the summer sun appears
I'll love you when I sing
So hold me tight my love
I'll love you till I die
and on some night when the moon is bright
we'll make love beneath the starry sky
So hold me tight my love
beneath the stars we'll lie
and we can laugh and cry my love
cause fish can fly
If fish can fly my love
there is nothing we can't do
we can cry my love
and we can laugh too

Summer Song
03:54
|

walkin' the dog on the silver beach
the golden boys that walk past me
walk hand and hand
run in the sand
swim in the sea
a handsome lad just smiled at me
kids in sunlight are flying kites
in the blue sky
the boys and girls playing on the beach
are looking for love
looking for life
as golden boys lie on the beach
taken' my time
walkin' around
by the sea
my little dog laughs at me
cause i'm lookin' around at he blue sky
and the green sea
and golden boys
and golden boys
and golden boys on the beach

Rapt in Beauty
04:09
|
|||
come and have a drink with me
at jacks bar, its always open
its not far, around the corner
where the boys are so well spoken
watch it don't fall in the water
come inside its not so chilly
do you remember that song' baby its cold outside?
This is john I think you'll like him.
-I remember my childhood
the church was always the best hideout.
and I remember walking
on the empty beach
rapt in beauty
here's a glass, I think you'll like this
just a twist of lemon makes it
not so fast, I think you better
stay a while , it's such a pleasure
This is John, did I introduce you?
hes a cop , he likes the boys too.
he' s 22 you wouldn't know it.
and what was the name of that poet?
-I remember my childhood
the church was always the best hideout.
and I remember walking
on the empty beach
rapt in beauty

Hitchhiking
07:07

I HIT THE ROAD AND HEADED FOR THE SETTING SUN.
THE LIGHTS ON THE PAVEMENT WERE GOLD.
THE LONG BLACK HIGHWAY WAS AN ARROW TO THE STARS.
CARS PASSED BY.
AND THAN I GOT A RIDE.
THE CARS WERE GOING FAST INTO THE NIGHT.
THE FALLING RAIN WAS SHINNING ON THE ROAD.
WE DROVE FROM DARKNESS, INTO THE BRIGHT
MORNING SUN,
WHERE THE GREAT WATERS FALL, AT BUFFALO.
I GOT A RIDE OUT OF CHICAGO.
WE PASSED THROUGH CITIES AND SMALL TOWNS.
THE TRUCK THAT PICKED ME UP, HEADED SOUTH.
AND THE MISSISSIPPI FLOWED
LIKE A GREAT WIDE ROAD
OF GOLD AND MUD.
I WENT TO AUSTIN WHERE I STAYED
WITH SOME GOOD PEOPLE IN THERE HOME.
AND PETER TOOK ME OUT, TO THE PLACE
WHERE THE BLUE ROCKS ROSE
ON THE SILVER MIRROR OF A LAKE.
WHEN I LEFT AUSTIN FOR THE COAST,
I GOT A RIDE WITH RICHARD WHITE.
HE PLAYED A FRAIL GUITAR, AND I
SANG A HOPEFUL NOTE.
WITH THE BLUE SKY PLAYING BY, THE FREEWAY.
I GOT A JOB IN SAN FRANCISCO.
WASHING THE POTS IN A RESTAURANT .
AND AFTER WORK I'D GO, TO THE TOP
OF A HILL,
WITH THE WHITE CITY SHINNING, IN THE DUSK.
I HIT THE ROAD.....

this Holy Place

this holy place
all around the world
where we pray
the sky and earth
the day and night
where we say
this prayer we make
in this holy world
and we will try
to light a little lamp
shine a little light
on this land
this
word
you
pray
the
night
and
day
this
prayer
we
make
this
lamp
we
light

Gertrude Stein

|

a rose is a rose, is a rose, is a rose
and i am walking down the street
i'm brushing the hair out of my face
so i can see
the handsome youth standing on the corner
waiting for a bus
he's having an argument with his girl
i hope that they make up.
a rose is a rose, is a rose, is a rose
what was that all about?
i heard about it in art school
and thought i'd look it up
Gertrude Stein would write all night
in the morning, Alice would type it up
and in the evening they would take there little dog
and go see Picasso and Dora Maar
Gertrude Stein would write all night
in the morning, Alice would type it up
and in the evening they would take there little dog
and go see Picasso and Dora Maar
a rose is a rose, is a rose, is a rose
i'm living in new york
i like the big streets and the big buildings
it's a great place to walk
but some times i'd like to go to a lonely beach
and just sit on the shore
and not think about the 60s or the 70s
just not think at all
