lyrics

it's just a love song
made in the city
about a man
who works for a living
he knows a young sailor boy
who's not that pretty
but when he makes love to him
it's better than money

he walked down the street one day
to the old harbor
to buy a pound of fish
at the fish market
he saw the young sailor there
by the scale
dressed in his uniform
tall and fair

two people in love
are a light in the city
so mothers don't weep
if your boy's are happy

there was a young sailor boy
just 18 or 20
he'd been all around the world
and he'd seen plenty
but when he saw that man
standing there in that line
the love in that strangers eyes
was better than wine

it's just a love song
made in the city
about a sailor boy
who sailed the great ocean
he knows a working man
who's not that pretty
but when he makes love to him
it's better than money

two people in love
are a light in the city
so mothers don't weep
if your boy's are happy
