lyrics

a child, walks down, a dark streets
over a, bridge where, the river roars
a child, walks up, to the walls
of protection and belief
of protection and belief

Father, washes, his black car
out of, memory and, miles and miles
across, the decades, to where we are
cris-cross the world and cross my heart
criss-cross the world and cross my heart

--Mother what is that song you sing
don't wake up baby, put him to sleep
if i die before i wake
Humpty Dumpty will never break

walls in the, desert and, aluminum birds
Christ in Nevada and, fire works
cross the ocean on the forth of July
songs on the radio for an American child
songs on the radio for an American child

--Mother what is that song you sing
don't wake up baby, put him to sleep
if i die before i wake
Humpty Dumpty will never break
