Track Name: On the River
she
goes on
rolling down the river
she takes you to
your new home

and you
go with her
on the muddy river
she teaches you
a new song
Track Name: Art & Life
i'm glad you came over the other night
just to talk about art and life
it's such a dream, all these feelings we feel
but the music and we are real

-so take it easy when you go
in a new direction, on another road
think of me when you lay your guitar down
isten to the breeze and look around

everybody knows music heals the soul
so sing for me before you go
and when you pass this way again
i'll play music for you my friend

-so take it easy when you go
in a new direction, on another road
think of me when you lay your guitar down
isten to the breeze and look around

-so take it easy when you go
in a new direction, on another road
think of me when you lay your guitar down
isten to the breeze and look around

the road is music for you and me
a true musician seeks harmony
although your many miles from here
i'll play music for you to feel

-so take it easy when you go
in a new direction, on another road
think of me when you lay your guitar down
isten to the breeze and look around
Track Name: Deep Water
Water is deep.
The road goes on forever.
And some day we'll make
this world, a little brighter.

The rain is sweet.
The cows are in the clover.
And when wee meet
we'll be closer.

The sky is wide.
The rivers flow together.
and when they meet
the waves go out forever.

Water is deep.
The road goes on forever.
And some day we'll make
this world, a little brighter.
Track Name: Hitchhiking
I HIT THE ROAD AND HEADED FOR THE SETTING SUN.
THE LIGHTS ON THE PAVEMENT WERE GOLD.
THE LONG BLACK HIGHWAY WAS AN ARROW TO THE STARS.
CARS PASSED BY.
AND THAN I GOT A RIDE.

THE CARS WERE GOING FAST INTO THE NIGHT.
THE FALLING RAIN WAS SHINNING ON THE ROAD.
WE DROVE FROM DARKNESS, INTO THE BRIGHT
MORNING SUN,
WHERE THE GREAT WATERS FALL, AT BUFFALO.

I GOT A RIDE OUT OF CHICAGO.
WE PASSED THROUGH CITIES AND SMALL TOWNS.
THE TRUCK THAT PICKED ME UP, HEADED SOUTH.
AND THE MISSISSIPPI FLOWED
LIKE A GREAT WIDE ROAD
OF GOLD AND MUD.

I WENT TO AUSTIN WHERE I STAYED
WITH SOME GOOD PEOPLE IN THERE HOME.
AND PETER TOOK ME OUT, TO THE PLACE
WHERE THE BLUE ROCKS ROSE
ON THE SILVER MIRROR OF A LAKE.

WHEN I LEFT AUSTIN FOR THE COAST,
I GOT A RIDE WITH RICHARD WHITE.
HE PLAYED A FRAIL GUITAR, AND I
SANG A HOPEFUL NOTE.
WITH THE BLUE SKY PLAYING BY, THE FREEWAY.

I GOT A JOB IN SAN FRANCISCO.
WASHING THE POTS IN A RESTAURANT .
AND AFTER WORK I'D GO, TO THE TOP
OF A HILL,
WITH THE WHITE CITY SHINNING, IN THE DUSK.

I HIT THE ROAD AND HEADED FOR THE SETTING SUN.
THE LIGHTS ON THE PAVEMENT WERE GOLD.
THE LONG BLACK HIGHWAY WAS AN ARROW TO THE STARS.
CARS PASSED BY.
AND THAN I GOT A RIDE.
